About Me
Deborah (Debbie) Braide is an Energy and International development specialist, World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and British Chevening alumni. She has worked on regional sustainable energy projects involving public and private stakeholders such as the European Union, World Bank, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As the Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) investment advisor at the GIZ-Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) , she managed a combined project portfolio of over EUR1 million for the implementation of digital solutions for RE and EE investments; development of a national policy for environmentally sound battery management, standardization of RE/EE equipment and streamlined importation process for RE/EE Equipment to Nigeria. Currently, she is Nigeria Research Coordinator for a project generating electrification data to support clean, sustainable electrification of 78 commercial clusters and about 250,000 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. A researcher at heart, she is also presently investigating optimisation of Power-to-liquids processes for production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). She is also the founder of Enercate, a network for capacity building of African women and youths in STEM and Sustainable Energy. Her work promotes adoption of Sustainable energy towards mitigating climate change and accelerating energy access to unserved and underserved areas, as well as capacity building of women in STEM. She is committed to Sustainable Development and creating equal opportunities for women and is an Abuja Literary Society Poetry Slam champion.
